Elections in Nigeria have been happening under different contexts – some amidst economic crises and others amidst the pandemic. However, with the growing concerns about the unabated insecurity in every region of the country. It is obvious that the 2023 elections will be amidst insecurity.
KDI, using the Nigeria Election Violence Report (NEVR) methodology for data gathering, verification, and disaggregation, has started tracking reports of verified violent incidents. The disaggregated data is published in this report to inform stakeholders in numbers about the extent of damage and why mitigation intervention planning needs to start now. Hence, our elections may be affected.
